Lake Wörthsee forms part of the Upper Bavarian ‘Fünfseenland’ (Land of Five Lakes) and, with an average water temperature of around 22 degrees, is considered one of the warmest and cleanest lakes for swimming in Bavaria. Its unspoilt, often densely wooded shores make it one of the quietest lakes in the region.

The municipality of Wörthsee, comprising the districts of Steinebach, Walchstadt, Etterschlag and Auing, lies around 25 kilometres west of Munich and can be reached in about 30 minutes by car via the A96. Munich city centre is also directly connected via the S8 S-Bahn line to Steinebach station.

In the middle of the lake lies the small, private island of Wörth, home to the historic Wörthschlössl dating from the 15th century – one of the tranquil landmarks that lend Lake Wörthsee its special, almost unspoilt character.

Other lakes in the ‘Land of Five Lakes’ are situated in the immediate vicinity – the Ammersee, Pilsensee, Weßlinger See and Starnberger See. Restaurants, lidos and sailing clubs around Lake Wörth make the region a wonderful place to live, even beyond the confines of your own property.
