A treat from brunch to dinner
Note on the edition
This article is taken from the Spring 2025 issue of RIEDEL Magazine. The establishments, menus and awards mentioned are correct as at the time of publication. It is worth checking the current opening hours before visiting.
Broeding Restaurant & Wine Shop

The Michelin-starred Broeding Restaurant & Wine Shop has been treating its guests to a fine dining experience since 1989. The ambience is understated, the cuisine is exquisite and always served as a five- or six-course menu, and the staff have been with the restaurant for many years, or even decades. Everything here simply falls into place – every single time.
Another classic is the Malzraum, where the atmosphere is rather down-to-earth. Munich-style schnitzel with mustard and fresh horseradish is just as much a treat there as the homemade Kasspatzn and the juicy burgers. But you can also enjoy fine dining featuring fish and lamb there.
Mediterranean cuisine

What would the northernmost city in Italy – as Munich is sometimes called – be without its Italians? The Canal Grande on Südliche Auffahrtsallee serves Italian classics as well as creative Mediterranean dishes with sophistication and great passion. A dinner on the terrace, bathed in the evening sun, is a particularly lovely experience there.

The Enoteca L’Antipasto Nuovo on Sandstraße is both a delicatessen and a restaurant. Attilio and Fabrizio came to Munich in the 1980s and opened a cosy delicatessen, L’Antipasto. Then, in 2001, L’Antipasto Nuovo opened its doors, treating guests from lunchtime until late in the evening to the finest antipasti and exquisite wines, as well as dishes that change daily.
The Puro Bar e Cucina also serves up Italian delicacies. Fish and meat specialities, as well as homemade pasta, bread and focaccia, are complemented by an exquisite wine list.

Munich isn’t just full of Italian charm, though; it also has plenty of Greek flair – for example at Königsplatz, which, architecturally speaking, symbolises the bond between Bavaria and Greece. You’ll find the perfect menu to go with it at Taverna Cyclades, near Rotkreuzplatz. The restaurant serves both modern and classic Greek cuisine. The highlight of Taverna Cyclades is its open kitchen, where guests can watch the chefs preparing the dishes.
If you’d like to reminisce about your last holiday in Mallorca or sun-drenched Marbella, VolkArt is the place for you. Mediterranean cuisine is served there, particularly some truly exquisite Spanish tapas. The seasonal menu features mainly light dishes with vegetables and fish. However, the Spanish national dish, paella, is also served at VolkArt.

Sushi, bowls and spring rolls
Ryu on Blutenburgstraße stands out with its pan-Asian ‘fusion cuisine’. Naturally, Ryu serves sushi in every conceivable variation. But guests can also look forward to delicious Vietnamese-inspired bowls.
Jacci also serves Vietnamese cuisine. Steamed dumplings with butter crab or duck, green mango or papaya salad, delicious summer rolls and, of course, pho soup leave nothing to be desired. Also at home in the world of Pan-Asian cuisine is Sumi on Alfonsstraße, where the inside-out sushi rolls are a real treat for the eyes as well.
But Nymphenburg has even more to offer

The Schlosscafé in the Palm House, set amidst the extensive grounds of Nymphenburg Palace, is a superb place to enjoy breakfast. It has been run by the Schmidbauer family for almost half a century. The building itself is a feast for the eyes; it was commissioned by King Max I and built in 1820 by the brilliant landscape architect Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell. Incidentally, the Schlosscafé can also be hired for events and private celebrations.

Lilli P., which takes its name from the street on which it’s situated (Lilli-Palmer-Straße), is the go-to spot for breakfast and brunch enthusiasts – who, incidentally, are also in the right place at Madam Anna Ekke. Whether you’re Team ‘Sweet’ or Team ‘Savoury’, there’s something for every breakfast lover there until 3 pm. And if you’re just looking for a delicious slice of cake, this is the place for you too. The café serves up a brilliant breakfast and lovingly prepared open sandwiches made with ingredients sourced from local farmers.
Ice cream tradition
The Sarcletti ice-cream parlour on Nymphenburger Straße is a true Munich institution. For almost 150 years, the Sarcletti family has been treating Munich’s residents to ice cream made according to traditional and seasonal recipes. The selection of classics such as Amarena, chocolate and strawberry is regularly complemented by more unusual flavours such as pitahaya-pomegranate, turmeric-rosehip or ginger-orange. In total, the range comprises around a hundred flavours, about half of which are freshly available every day.
This small selection alone shows that Nymphenburg-Neuhausen is a culinary melting pot where it’s not just foodies who’ll find a rich variety from morning till night. Nymphenburg-Neuhausen has a great deal to offer, particularly when it comes to food, and the best way to discover it is on a stroll.
RIEDEL’s perspective
What the article describes is a tangible locational advantage. A neighbourhood where everything from breakfast to a Michelin-starred meal is within walking distance retains its value even when the market as a whole is in decline. During viewings, buyers regularly ask precisely this: ‘Where can you go for a meal around here?’ Nymphenburg and Neuhausen provide a convincing answer to that question.
